Billing & Revenue Specialist 

We’re seeking a highly skilled Billing and Revenue Specialist to join our team and help scale our revenue and billing operations, executing on sales order entry, billing, revenue recognition, and related ad hoc projects. This role is ideal for someone who understands the nuances of SaaS metrics, ASC 606, contract structures, and is comfortable managing complex billing workflows. This role is critical to ensuring accurate, scalable billing and revenue operations as we grow our subscription and usage-based business. Success in this role means delivering accurate, timely billing and revenue recognition, improving operational efficiency, and enabling reliable SaaS metric reporting. Experience with Maxio (SaaSOptics) is strongly preferred.

 

Key Responsibilities - Billing & Revenue Operations

  • Manage end‑to‑end billing operations for subscription and volume‑based customers

  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual billing processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal controls
    • Manage the full lifecycle of customer subscriptions, including onboarding, changes, renewals, and cancellations within Maxio
    • Create monthly invoices for usage-based contracts, pulling information from PowerBI and other sources and applying tiers and minimums according to contract specifications
    • Update and maintain Excel-based customer records and billing schedules
    • Review contracts, amendments, and renewals for billing and revenue implications
    • Monitor AR aging, follow up on outstanding balances, and support collections efforts
    • Identify and resolve billing discrepancies, credit memos, prepayments, and adjustments
    • Ensure accurate revenue recognition under ASC 606, including deferred revenue, multi‑element arrangements, and usage‑based billing
  • Manage complex product catalogs and multiple SKUs, ensuring correct pricing, bundling, billing, and revenue logic across subscriptions
  • Partner with Sales to ensure contract accuracy, smooth billing execution, and alignment between commercial terms and revenue recognition.
  • Proactively identify inefficiencies and lead process improvements across billing and revenue operations, with a focus on automation, scalability, and auditability.
  • Support monthly and quarterly financial reporting, including SaaS‑specific metrics (e.g., ARR, C-ARR, upsell, downsell, backlog).

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 3+ years of progressive accounting and billing experience, preferably in a SaaS or subscription-based environment.
  • Experience with Maxio (SaaSOptics) strongly preferred; familiarity with other billing or ERP systems is a plus.
  • Experience with volume-based billing models preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and revenue recognition principles (ASC 606 experience is a plus).
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills and the ability to collaborate across internal teams.

The salary range for this role is $80,000 to $120,000. Final offers for this position will be based upon several factors including the scope of the role, market compensation analysis, position requirements, candidate’s experience level and capabilities, specific candidate geographic location, internal pay equity considerations and will be made within the parameters of the of Azara Healthcare’s compensation framework and philosophy.
