Statement from the Azara Leadership Team on Recent Events

We have watched with outrage and heartbreak the events surrounding the murder of George Floyd.  We stand in solidarity with the Black community against violence, hate and injustice.  Right now, they are hurting, they are down, and some are feeling a sense of hopelessness.  We stand with them, we are here for them.  This has nothing to do with politics—it has to do with human rights.  Everyone has a right to feel safe and protected regardless of the color of their skin, race, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity and ability.

At Azara, our actions and reactions dictate the impact we make—on the lives of our colleagues, clients, and partners, our product, our business and the businesses of our clients.  Azara proudly plays a role in enhancing the ability of our health center partners to deliver high quality healthcare to those most in need, many of whom are part of communities of color.  In fact, the health center movement that we serve was born out of the struggle for racial justice in the 1960’s.

Inclusivity, equality and integrity are at the heart of Azara’s values.  We have worked hand in hand with a very diverse group of mission driven clients who have dedicated their lives to assuring that access to quality healthcare is a right for all and not just a privilege of few.  We’ve succeeded at Azara because we know that working together leads to greater success than division ever could.  We stand firmly against racism.  We denounce hatred and intolerance.  We do not accept the world as it is, and we demand change.

The work to end systematic racism and injustice will require constant attention, from top to bottom, across all facets of our lives. We cannot forget the task ahead for all of us when media attention recedes.  What we do in the face of the ugliness we are witnessing right now—ugliness that has reared its head in some form time after time over the course of American history—will define the future for the next generation.

We all belong. We must work to create a world in which everyone truly feels they do belong, every day of their lives.
